This happened one morning heading to work. I have always had places in my rides that I really enjoy and occasionally I drive a little recklessly. Getting on to 101 south from Hillsdale (like you're coming from the horse track) was one of my favorites, a S turn with a little hill that would get you leaned over way left, then way right and then out on to 101. On this fateful morning some gentle motorist had decided to share his car's fluid with the rest of the world and there was a nice patch of oil on the road waiting for me right where I was leaning "way right". The "right" thing to do would have been let the bike slide, but fear, that damn survival instinct and the traffic merging onto 101 that I would have intersected at a right angle made me grab every bit of brake I had. Over the top I went.
